Anything above that is logistically exorbitant for a note-taking app, in my humble opinion. I would personally price my ideal subscription plan to $3/month (or $4/month if the team adds basic text formatting like bold, italic etc) only under the condition they someday improve on the Linux port. (I'd be more than happy to elaborate on that topic, if needed) Unfortunately, it's day and night for macOS / iOS users who enjoy the perks of a beautifully designed modern app (regardless of macOS's extremely low market share), while Linux (and Windows) users are left with a substandard UI/UX experience. But most of all, my personal dealbreaker is the severely neglected (Electron-based) Linux port of an already severely neglected Windows port of Simplenote. Or Proton Unlimited for the same price, that grants you 500GB across all Proton Drive, Proton Mail, Proton Calendar and Proton VPN.įurthermore, the intentionally minimalistic nature of Simplenote (which I love, I personally have no need for images, markdown etc) does not warrant such subscription price, especially when compared to other similar note-taking apps. To put it in perspective, I currently pay €9.99/month for Dropbox Plus that grants me 3TB worth of storage. While I personally welcome both free and optional paid plans, as a means to support one's favorite project, $19.99/month (not sure about Europe) is incredibly unrealistic for this application's scope and reach. I've been experiencing some sync issues as of late between my devices, so while searching through Github for known issues regarding syncing, I've read about Simplenote's Sustainer plans.
